Celebrating history, empowering voices through visual storytelling
Celebrating history, empowering voices through visual storytelling
To visually represent the interweaving stories and shared experiences of women across generations, I chose a design language rooted in geometric shapes. These shapes, when combined, form a tapestry that symbolizes the interconnectedness of lives and legacies. The gentle colour tones I selected evoke a sense of warmth and nostalgia, creating an inviting atmosphere for viewers to explore the exhibition’s content.
The ARP typeface, with its distinctive strokes and elegant forms, was chosen as the primary font. Its classic yet modern feel beautifully captures the essence of the past, present, and future that the NCJWA embodies, making it a fitting choice for a project that celebrates the organisation’s rich history and ongoing impact.
The 32-page booklet serves as a tangible keepsake for the exhibition, featuring portraits and biographies of influential women in the Jewish community. The design seamlessly integrates these elements with the visual language established in the overall campaign, creating a cohesive and immersive experience for readers.
In addition to the booklet, I developed supporting visuals for the fundraising campaign, including promotional materials and social media assets. These visuals maintained the consistent aesthetic of the project, ensuring a unified brand identity across all touchpoints.
Working on the “Isha” project was a rewarding experience that allowed me to combine my passion for design with my appreciation for the rich history and contributions of women in the Jewish community. Through careful consideration of the exhibition’s themes and the NCJWA’s values, I was able to create a visual narrative that honoured the past while empowering the future.
The collaboration with Vicky Finklestein was both inspiring and enjoyable, fostering a creative partnership that resulted in a truly impactful project. I am proud to have contributed to an initiative that celebrates the achievements of remarkable women and supports the important work of the NCJWA in the community.
