Empowering designers to thrive in the digital marketplace

Empowering designers to thrive in the digital marketplace

This project involved creating an online shop for Melbourne-based fashion designer Jody Kahlon. Building on the success of her previous website, where she sold masks during the pandemic, the goal was to expand her online presence and offer a wider range of products. The result is a stylish and functional e-commerce platform that reflects Jody’s unique aesthetic and caters to her growing customer base.

Seamless Design Integration

Skills: Digital Design, UI/UX, Wordpress, Elementor, Dynamic Content, Template Build
Software Used: Sketch, Wordpress, Elementor

The online shop seamlessly integrates with Jody’s main website, maintaining a consistent visual identity and user experience. This cohesive approach ensures that customers transitioning between the two platforms feel a sense of familiarity and continuity, enhancing their overall browsing and shopping experience.

Each product page is meticulously designed to showcase Jody’s unique and eccentric style. From the layout and typography to the product photography, every detail is carefully considered to reflect the brand’s personality and create an immersive shopping environment that resonates with Jody’s target audience.

A Robust and Customisable Platform

The online shop was built using WooCommerce and Elementor, leveraging the power of Custom Post Types to create distinct categories and templates for each product. This ensured a tailored and user-friendly browsing experience. Additionally, I integrated Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) and incorporated swatches to enhance the functionality of the product pages, allowing customers to easily view and select different product variations.

Responsive Design

Recognising the increasing importance of mobile commerce, I prioritised responsive design to ensure a seamless shopping experience across all devices. The website adapts effortlessly to different screen sizes, maintaining its visual appeal and functionality whether viewed on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone. I implemented a new method for scaling typography based on the viewport size, guaranteeing optimal readability and a polished look on every device.

Driving Sales and Growth

Since its launch in mid to late 2022, the online shop has experienced a steady increase in sales, demonstrating its effectiveness as a sales channel for Jody Kahlon’s unique designs. The shop’s success is a testament to the seamless integration of design and functionality, providing a user-friendly and visually appealing platform that encourages customers to browse, discover, and purchase Jody’s creations. As the shop continues to evolve with new sections and products, it promises to be a vital tool for Jody’s continued growth and success in the online fashion market.
