A dress made up for a girl who loves colour
This was a special collaboration, the first with my daughter, Catia, who was six years old at the time. She inspired both a dressmaker and designer to create something special for her. Catia came up with a name for her label “Pariz in Franz” and then designed her first dress. Melbourne couture dressmaker, Jody Kahlon, brought her design to life. Jody decided to feature the dress in one of her window displays and asked if I would like to collaborate!
I created a poster to complement the installation. The poster was printed on canvas and featured Catia’s handwritten “Pariz in Franz” design, which I scanned and cleaned up in Illustrator.
The design was inspired by my love for mid-century aesthetics and complemented Catia’s futuristic color palette.
I also hung lighting in a similar style to the poster. The lights were fitted with color-changing LED globes to add to the ambiance at night.
It was a proud moment for me to collaborate with Catia on her first installation and to see the joy on her face when we surprised her with the unveiling, as shown in the photo below.
